January 23, 2012

 February’s Newsletter.

The winter winds have carried most of winter to other places, but the cold lets you know just how

alive you are. The daylight is coming back in small increments; it all counts. Nothing ever stays the same.

Mid- Valley Seniors, has seen many changes since last Christmas, as we lost our beloved board member and good friend Bruce Babcock. As we came together at his celebration of life it reminded me of other positives. Like when the roof and boiler were replaced the seniors of Mid-Valley came together and made salads, helped with desserts and it was the best week ever.

I am asking on Bruce’s and Bill Huff`s behalf that when you fill out your membership for Mid-Valley Seniors, please fill out a membership for Homesteaders Community Center, to avoid losing our place of beginnings. Or consider being a board member not only for MVSC, but for Homesteaders as well. Now that Bruce has passed there are only (2) two board members left. Please any way you look at it, we need to save the little place down the hill, as it is the foundation for MVSC. Please remember you can always volunteer, as that’s what I am doing.

Please note February 14, 2012 is a Sweetheart Luncheon and Book Sale and all proceeds made this day will be donated to Linda Lockhart. Come buy lunch for your Sweetie, and  maybe even donate the cost of a lunch for one of the most valuable volunteers this community of Houston and Big Lake has ever known.

In March we will return to our dinner time again with soup and salad 5:00 pm and dinner served 5:30pm-6:00 pm. There will be a lot more entertainment this year, as well as medical people for hearing checks, possibly a foot doctor and others. As always the staff at Mid- Valley will take seriously your suggestions for meals, or services, entertainment, whatever.

Until next month Live, Love, Laugh. Life is short.

Lorie Rounds.
